SHS Counselors

Schedule Correction RequestSchedule corrections are only done for the following reasons:

  • Blank period or missing course on schedule

  • Course completed in summer

  • Required coursework not completed in summer as planned

  • SHS scheduling error (Incorrect course number, incorrect year—i.e., Spanish 1 instead of Spanish 2)

  • Missing graduation requirement (seniors only

If one of the above situations applies, click the Schedule Request Form to request a meeting with your counselor. Note that all requests will be reviewed by administration, and not all requests will be granted.

Students : No appointment is needed during a crisis situation. If you are worried about your safety or the safety of a peer, please see your counselor right away.

Most agencies have virtual therapy available, just ask. Our Sandia High School Counseling staff are available during school operating hours to assist with accessing resources as you seek help.

To equip students with specific knowledge, skills, and guidance to help them set and achieve their academic, career, and personal goals.

Confidentiality

Information discussed with the counselor is private unless the information needs to be shared to prevent danger to the student or others. If information needs to be shared, the counselor will make every effort to let you know of the appropriate source (s) that need to be contacted. This may be a parent/guardian, administrative personnel, protective services, or law enforcement. Other shared information includes court subpoenas and communication with other professionals to better support you. Our primary responsibility is to our students, but we also acknowledge parents rights to be informed.
